At Redbridge International Academy, we have a hands-on approach to non-English speaking children. We operate through a multilingual education system; teachers help a child/children to understand the basics in his/her known language until their English language and vocabulary can be well developed. Since the teacher-student ratio is less, this kind of personalization has been possible.
Redbridge International Academy is an international school that believes in inclusiveness. Our approach is child-centric, and hence we have a department called the Special Education Needs (SEN) department. Children with special educational needs receive personal attention.
The languages taught in Redbridge academy include English, Hindi, Kannada, and French. Depending upon the classes, even the languages become advanced or simple. Every classroom, laboratory and some of the activity rooms are provided with promethean smart boards with preloaded syllabus content and access to the internet. Teachers adopt various teaching methodologies depending on the classroom situation, student needs and the subject being transacted. Methodologies may included strategies that provide children with the environment for experiential learning. Most importantly all classroom activity is kept interactive and interesting for the students.
In this institution more than the knowledge that is imparted to the children we ensure that every child is accepted, cared for, appreciated and encouraged to grow to their fullest potential. The school provides all children the opportunities and facilities to express their trueselves and inate potential be it in academics, sports, games, art, music or dance. Most importantly we ensure that every child will experience success, be happy and feel loved.
Every class and hence every child is given the opportunity to conduct morning assembly. This is, in our opinion the basis for encouraging and ensuring that every child becomes self confident by providing them the platform to express themselves whether through the spoken word, dance, singing and the like. This goes a long way in helping them overcome stage fright and shyness. It also builds and boosts their self esteem and helps in developing leadership skills. Once this is done their participation in extra and co-curricular activities is more than ensured.
Not at all. We follow a homework schedule so that children are not over burdened and they are given interesting worksheets to complete for home work. At the same time children are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities and sports and games so that it is not “all work and no play”!
Apart from organised sports, games and special activities organised after normal school working hours every class has 2 (higher classes) or 3 (lower classes) Physical Education periods that is a part of the regular school timetable. Children do exercises and play games like football, cricket, volleyball or basketball they also partcipate in individual games like badminton, chess or carrom during these periods. The PE intsructor ensures that all children get ample opportunities to participate in sports and games.
The teachers in the higher grades are suitably trained and qualified. They also attend Professional Development courses to enhance the quality of their teaching, classroom management skills and subject content. Extra classes if required are conducted on Saturdays. Specialised and qualified coaches are appointed for sports coaching after school working hours.
